بغداد جئتُكِ كالسّفينةِ مُتعَباً
أُخفي جِراحاتي وراءَ ثيابي
أنا ذَلِكَ البَحارُ أَنفقَ عُمرَهُ
في البحث عن حب وعن أحباب
بغداد طرت على حرير عباءةٍ
وعلى ضفائر زينبٍ وربابِ
وهبطتُ كالعصفورِ يقصدُ عشَّهُ
والفجر عرسٌ مآذن وقبابِ
حتى رأيتُكِ قطعةً مِن جَوهرٍ
ترتاحُ بينَ النخلِ والأعنابِ
